Welcome to a monthly series where I document the performance of my sealed Magic the Gathering investment portfolio.

I’ve been investing in MTG collector boxes since 2020 and own at least three of every box ever made.

I buy on release (or increase my position later) no matter what.

While I had toyed with documenting my MTG portfolio in the past, I scrapped it for the foreseeable future before deciding to make it a new pillar of this newsletter in July of 2026.

The catalyst for the decision came after a new trend in the MTG world hit my radar.

It became obvious to me that during the first half of 2026 (and a few others on YouTube), Wizards of the Coast is currently trying to adopt more of a Pokémon playbook with their product.

Fast forward to September and Wizards has now announced god packs for future sets (something Pokémon is famous for) somewhat confirming this as true.

Well, what else is Pokémon known for lately?

Not having enough product to satisfy the demand of the market.

Wizards has intentionally started short-printing their product in waves to try and adopt this phenomenon (not confirmed but is as obvious as it gets)

Most MTG products now operate in cycles where the price on the open market increases by a considerable amount between reprints (more on this in the first post in this series) as a result.

Not only is this trend legitimate, but I have found myself connected to people within the Wizards of the Coast and LGS distribution system that allow me to know which sets are getting reprinted before it is officially announced.

This is extremely beneficial for timing when to buy and sell.

If you pay attention to this series, you have an opportunity to make a lot of money if you use the information wisely.

The positions I have created since the introduction of this series have been created with this in mind and if you continue reading, you’ll see they’re performing quite well.

Here is the current status of my MTG investing portfolio:
