IMPORTANT: A SPREADSHEET VERSION OF THE HIT LIST IS LINKED AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST

The list you are about to read is the list of LEGO sets my set picking system likes most for investing that are set retire in DECEMBER 2026.

If you would like to see the July list, you can see it here or in the spreadsheet linked at the bottom of this post.

This is the first look at December retirees, so I’m happy to dive in and show you guys what I’m eying in Q4.

The following list is created by:

  1. Looking at a giant list of sets expected to retire

  2. Inputting Amazon sales rank data (i.e. demand) into my custom set picking system and letting it spit out which sets it thinks will perform best

  3. Extrapolating “# of sets sold in the past month” for sets that don’t have sales rank data

  4. Picking demand thresholds for each theme to adhere to based on prior performance and estimated supply data

Does this system catch ALL of the best sets every year? No.

However, it has outperformed the average for the last three years by a large margin as documented in my monthly market update series.

Here is how I use the list below:

  1. Set price alerts on all of the sets my system likes at prices that would match or beat the all-time low historical price using Keepa or other software

  2. Buy if price hits or matches the all-time low, depending on how large the discount is (30%+ is usually a buy and if I do buy, I sent an alert to subscribers of this newsletter)

If I set does not hit that all-time low target price, I won’t be buying it.

This means that we likely won’t end up buying every set. We will only buy whatever the market gives us.

Let’s dive in.

Architecture

Target position size/set: ~1% of portfolio

Demand threshold: 5

Changes:

  • Added Himeji Castle 21060 (demand)

One set for Architecture this December and man, it’s a cool one. It is currently out of stock on Amazon so that is something to keep an eye on.
